Beautiful newborn images which don’t include full body shots of you!

If you’re expecting a baby and dreaming of capturing those precious first moments with your little one, you’re not alone. But for many mums, the thought of stepping in front of a camera soon after giving birth can feel overwhelming. After all, you’ve just done the most incredible thing—bringing life into the world—but you might feel tired, sleep-deprived, and not quite like yourself. I want to reassure you: you don’t need to worry. Newborn photos can be a gentle, beautiful experience, and I’ve designed my sessions to make you feel comfortable, confident, and truly gorgeous.

Here are just a few of the ways I can help with the overwhelm and some of my ticks for capturing gorgeous photos that don’t include a full body portrait!

1. Choose one of the gorgeous dresses from my client wardrobe

Choosing what to wear doesn’t have to be stressful. I offer a curated collection of dresses with flattering cuts, soft fabrics, and beautiful necklines that suit a variety of body shapes. These dresses are designed to photograph beautifully and provide easy access for breastfeeding if baby needs a top up during your session. You can try on and choose your favourite option when you arrive.

Just wear your normal maternity bra and we can just tuck down your straps as and when we need to. (And if you are worried about leakage, just pop a pair of bike pants underneath. Even though many of the dresses are white, I don’t really take many full body shots so you won’t see them in the photos).

2. Give your nails a quick coat of polish

During newborn sessions, we often include hands in the photos—a soft touch on your baby’s cheek, holding their tiny fingers, cradling them close or this favourite shot below of their little toes. While you might not feel up to a full glam makeover, a simple coat of nail polish can make all the difference in adding a polished and personal touch to your photos.

3. Get the mascara out and pump up those lashes

Many of my favourite shots focus on the tender connection between you and your baby. Sometimes, the most beautiful moments are when we see your lashes as you gently kiss your newborn. A touch of mascara can enhance those natural, intimate moments without feeling like too much.

4. Choose an outfit for baby from my selection of soft, gorgeous knitted rompers

Let’s take one more thing off your plate. I have a selection of adorable, soft baby rompers and wraps that photograph beautifully and are perfect for your little one. You won’t have to worry about choosing or buying something new—just bring your baby, and we’ll take care of the rest.

5. Wear a cute little chain or necklace

Sometimes, the simplest details make the most striking images. A delicate necklace or chain which has a special meaning for you, can become the focal point of a photo where your face isn’t included. These shots can be powerful and intimate, highlighting your connection with your baby while giving you the space to feel comfortable if you’re not ready for close-up portraits.

More than just photos

Above all, my goal is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where you feel celebrated. It’s perfectly okay to feel tired and not quite like yourself after giving birth—you’ve just accomplished something extraordinary! The beauty of newborn photography is that we can focus on the love and connection you share with your baby, and there are countless ways to do that without putting pressure on you.

You deserve to have these memories, and I’m here to make sure the process is easy, stress-free, and full of love. Let’s create something beautiful together.
