Capturing special moments with your children

Family portrait session with Whangarei photographer Tracey Morris Photography.

The last time Deborah and her family had professional photos done, their youngest was just a baby. Now a gorgeous, busy little boy of almost 3yrs, it was definitely time for an update. The whole family love the beach so it was the perfect location for them to have their photos.

Before their session Deborah and I had a Zoom consult so we could plan what everyone would be wearing and I could answer any questions she had. I’ve found these quick planning sessions save so much time for clients as I can answer all your questions quickly instead of lots of backwards and forwards over email.

Deborah wore this beautiful boho style dress from my client wardrobe and told me she “just felt so beautiful in this gorgeous dress”. And that’s totally my aim of having these dresses for you to use!

The rest of the family’s outfits were based on what they already had, plus a few very reasonably priced shorts and t-shirts from Postie Plus, Kmart and Warehouse. Deborah pulled some combinations together and we exchanged a few images by text until we had nailed the colours and outfits.

I always ask families if there’s anything specific you want me to capture and Deborah’s answer really tugged at my heartstrings. She wanted to capture an individual, special moment with each child for both her and her husband. What a beautiful gift that I am sure one day her kids will come to appreciate way more than they probably do now – LOL. It’s also something I now try to capture for all my families!

We made time for a couple of “looking at the camera” shots as these are often the ones you want to give to grandparents, and then the rest of their session was made up of climbing, running, jumping, exploring together and water play to finish.

And we even managed to sneak in a few shots of Mum and Dad.

We had such a lovely evening at the beach with Tracey. She made us feel relaxed and at ease and went with the flow to capture some precious moments for us. Tracey really appreciates all the little things that make family life so special and goes above and beyond to find out a bit about your family. The gorgeous dress was so fun to wear. I would definitely recommend Tracey, thank you you so much for our beautiful photos.

Deborah is planning an album for her beautiful photos and a collage frame to go up on the wall when she gets a spare minute – amongst work, soccer practice for the kids and the odd game of squash for herself and Adam – to get them sorted.

If it’s time for you to update your family photos too, get in touch. I’d love to help you plan your session so we capture those special moments for you to treasure.
