There’s this sweet spot after you get engaged — before the wedding spreadsheets and seating charts take over — where life feels full of excitement, possibility, and just the two of you. That’s what engagement sessions are really about. Not the wedding. Not the dress or the venue. Just you two, right now.
This Matapouri engagement session was the perfect example. We started with soft, golden light and some quiet, backlit moments in the dunes.
Then things got playful — bare feet, laughing, walking the shoreline, and just letting the moments unfold.
We ended in the water with some beautifully sensual, intimate shots followed by a slow dance as the sun set in the Western sky.
The best part? This couple told me before we even started that they felt super awkward in front of the camera. (Nearly everyone does — you’re not alone!) But here’s the thing: I’ll guide you the whole way. I’m great at small talk, reading the room, and knowing when to gently direct or just let you be. You’ll never be standing there wondering what to do with your hands. I give prompts, actions, little games — whatever helps you feel like yourselves, not like you’re posing for a high school formal photo.
Engagement sessions are a chance to slow down, be fully present with your person, and capture this fleeting chapter. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about celebrating what your relationship feels like.
If that sounds like your vibe, I’d love to keep you in the loop.
